As an opening note, the subject-matter of this blog could encompass many pages to fully analyze the distinctions between the United Nations’ foci on small arms. It is a summary and primer to point readers in the right direction so they can be meaningfully involved in the matter, given the monumental amount of mis-information on the topic on-line and throughout the Nation. If You Advertise Your Gun-Related Business: Be Aware of “Electioneering Communications” Or Face Severe Penalties

The key focus of GLBS is educating trade groups, gun shops, individuals, and anyone with an interest about the legal aspects of gun-related issues. Most of the time, these focus on the individual. As a collective, American gun owners purchase more firearms at a higher profit margin that all other police agencies and military organizations combined. This blog post focuses on a very narrow segment of the gun industry, but one… Read More

Everyone who has followed firearms law understand this. The Assault Weapons Ban was enacted and then vanished by its sunset provision in 2004. As Congress and its administrative agency, ATF, change laws, it sometimes requires a revision of the key form to purchase a weapon at retail, the ATF 4473 Form. With a change in the interpretation as it relates to the status of nonimmigrant aliens versus those admitted with a visa, the ATF 4473 Form had to be revised. This revision occurred… Read More

Ignorance of Federal Firearms Law is no Excuse

Lawfully filling out an ATFE 4473 Form and Avoiding a Federal Criminal Charge If you watch many television shows or evening news, it is very easy to associate the term “indictment”–someone who has been indicted–with a big federal case. The same thing appears on the caption of newspapers, like “77 Drug Cartel Members Indicted by U.S. Attorney.” However, a pending arrest in state court for a felony or a crime for which you may be punished by a period of a year or more incarceration is an “indictment” for purposes of purchasing a firearm and truthfully answering question 11(b) on the AFT Form 4473 (revised April, 2012).1 This question states:… Read More
